About our Optical Delay Line series:

Our Optical Delay Line up to 8.0GHz – 18GHz series provides a high performance solution for testing and calibration of radar systems or RF communication. Our ODL converts analog RF signals in the 10 MHz – 18 GHz (20 GHz with different gain flatness is also possible) range to optical signals and back.

Your RF input signal is converted into an optical modulated signal, which is then transmitted into a single mode fiber. This creates a fixed time delay defined by the fiber length. After passing the fiber, your optical signal is converted back into an electrical RF signal. That signal is identical to the input RF signal.

We can provide you any fixed time delay between 0.1 and 250 μsec. This Optical Delay Line is operated as a standalone unit with no need for any intervention by your operator. It can also be controlled externally from a PC through various communication interfaces. At special request, >250 μsec is an option.

RFOptic’s Optical Delay Line unit is a compact solution, which provides superb performance including accurate time delay with ultra silent operation. Our ODL can be purchased with an integral switch unit supporting up to 8 predefined time delay values in a single ODL unit.
